Staff Engineer

Brad Young & Associates, Inc. is seeking an entry level engineer/EIT to join our team. Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing structural calculations

  • Coordinating and guiding construction drawing development with our in-house drafting department

  • Working with building departments to obtain building permits

  • Working with the construction team as needed during construction

  • There is also the opportunity to travel to job sites throughout the country.  We frequently have to travel to job sites to gather information on existing buildings so that we can engineer a proposed remodel.  It is a great opportunity for someone who wants to see more of the country and the different types of building construction you find as you move around the country.  We also realize traveling is not for everyone and it is certainly not a requirement for the position.

  • All of these responsibilities will be done under the guidance of our team of licensed professional engineers

Job Qualifications

  • 4-year college degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis

  • Civil Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certificate is a plus

Essential Knowledge/Skills

  • Familiarity with various lateral load resisting systems and materials.

  • Familiarity with applicable building code requirements when designing with the four major building materials; concrete, masonry, wood, and steel.

  • Familiarity with applicable building code requirements for Seismic, Wind, Snow, and Live Load design.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

  • Proficiency using AutoCAD to navigate and edit drawings

  • Fundamental knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Compensation

  • $65,000 - $95,000+. Salary for this position is based on the individual’s experience and any other intangibles they bring to the position.
